SPRING 2007 UPDATE

It’s difficult to keep up with the news when there is recording to do, cassettes and CD’s to send round the world, and new projects to chivvy along - mind you I’m only complaining when it comes to chasing well-known bookchains for settlement after six months, etc. I won’t name and shame yet, but here’s the first letter: W---------’s. There.

(I’ll add the second next time, unless....). A one-man Band has to be an elastic one.

I have, seems amazing to me, finished the project (of recording the whole of the Swallows and Amazons series), after twelve years, and am now gradually adding to the cassette version by bringing them out on CD.

So, to sum up, this means that GREAT NORTHERN? is now with us, the last of the series.

And that SWALLOWS AND AMAZONS & GREAT NORTHERN? are both available on CD as 5-disc boxsets.

The price remains at £13.50 per set. GREAT NORTHERN? is available now - and even got a mention in The Times on 23rd June.

A Note for the USA
Those nice Americans who are driven to this website might like to know that I send a single title for $30 at present including shipping (practically at cost) as a return for a delightful web-review from a lady with seven children (I think I counted right) who thus sends so many others to enquire. Mind you, you have to be a Nice American. The crunch being converting your dollar checks (sic) into Sterling, the more titles you buy, the Nicer you will seem. But one title is alright.

Other News
Those who remember Dr Who and Pyramids of Mars, where my evil character of Sutekh was born, may like to know that Coming to Dust and The Ship of a Billion Years feature Sutekh, again played by myself, on a CD in a pair of brand-new stories where, once again, I attempt to reduce the universe to dust and darkness.

Both are produced by Magic Bullet and can be obtained from shops now.

And Lawrence Miles is even now writing fresh scripts, for Sutekh to be let loose on, later this year.

In addition, as something completely different, last autumn I was called back to the televised world of Doctor Who to give my vocal interpretation of Satan, aka The Beast, in The Impossible Planet and The Satan Pit, with David Tennant as my enemy. As I did everything in a recording booth, alone, I was tempted to write to David and say what a pleasure it had been not working with him. I’m sure I’d have been too nervous had the stars been there !
